Five GACS in top ten both days! Galpin takes two seconds. Conyers dominates Sunday heat.

After changeable weather during Friday testing Saturday saw a dry track but with ominous black clouds hovering overhead

Qualifying saw Danny Hands grab pole for race one with Martin Galpin third, Martin Farmer seventh, Ian Buxton tenth just ahead of Jamie Conyers in eleventh. The sun came out for the race, in fact it was quite hot. Hands led away from the start from Sam Oliveira in the ex-Jenvey Sheane and Galpin but it was only a lap before the red flags were out for a coming together at the hairpin between the AHS Challenger of Ryan Lyndsay and the Scarab of James Birch. At the restart Hands again led away with Galpin second, Oliveira third. Meanwhile Farmer, Buxton and Conyers were busy improving their positions lap on lap.  Oliveira demoted Galpin to third down into the hairpin and set off after Hands, catching and passing him into Brooklands.  Meanwhile a great battle was developing between the GACs of Buxton, Farmer and Conyers, the Scarabs of Evans and Hughes and the Storm of Simon Robinson ending in a big damage - free spin on the final lap at Dibeni. Meanwhile Galpin had passed Hands for second on lap four but was unable to catch Oliveira. At the finish there was a ten second penalty applied to Hands and Farmer for adjugded jump starts, but the final result for GAC was Galpin second, Hands fourth, Buxton fifth, Conyers sixth and Farmer eighth. Five GACs in the top eight

Sunday's heat was dominated from lights to flag by Jamie Conyers in his GAC 03. He was untroubled throughout with the exception of a scary moment lapping two back-markers on the penultimate lap on the approach to Honda curve when the need for quick avoiding action tested the maneuverability of the GAC chassis to the maximum

The Final on Sunday saw Oliviera get away from pole with Hands and Galpin chasing. Meanwhile a repeat of Saturday saw a great battle between Conyers and Buxton and Evans in his Scarab whilst championship leader Martin Farmer, now happier with his setup, moved through the field from seventh to take an eventual fourth place at the flag. Galpin and Hands swapped places on the second lap and finished a comfortable second and third after the chasing Storm of Jake Oliveira spun at Honda

So GACs finished second, third, fourth, eighth and ninth on the Sunday. Not a bad weekend for the Marque!

Going into Cadwell Park on July 1st Martin Farmer continues to lead the championship with 99 points from Daniel Hands on 93

Thanks goes to John Galpin for this Report
